Hello Module 4

"Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year,

but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place.
If I quit, however, it lasts forever" - Lance Armstrong

After an entire week of extremely hot temperatures, there was break in the weather. Hooray! I have to say that I've been getting really twitchy staying inside. Once you get off your butt and start going outside it becomes an addiction. I love being in the park or at the beach with other runners and cyclist or people just out and about. I love the smell of sea salt in the air or the flowers in the park. It's invigorating!

So folks, today was the big step into Module 4. This is where you start running more than walking. I would say that I was nervous about it but I was so happy to be outside away from these four walls that I didn't even think about the added increase into 3 and 5 minute runs. Module 4 goes like this: for twenty minutes you run 3 minutes, walk 90 seconds, run 5 minutes, walk 2 and a half minutes. Really you end up doing that twice and it comes out to a little over 20 minutes.

What's in 5 minutes? More seconds than there are in 3. There was a little bit of a mental struggle, but it wasn't really that bad. My main thought was OMG I made it to Mod 4 and I haven't broken myself yet.

In light of Tour de France that is taking place right now the quote above is from Lance Armstrong. This is one of the few all male events I actually invest my time in watching, not that I am a man hater. That's not my bag. I'm just pissy about the National sport discluding women. If you get a chance and have access to the Versus (VS) channel try to watch one of the stages of the race. Since I was a kid I would watch bike races or marathons that were televised. I'm intrigued by the human spirit and how much you can push the body.

One of my first real life experiences with pushing my body to the max was in martial arts. I studied at one specific school for 11 years before I went on to study other arts. In this school which will always be the school that rules my heart, I learned when the body gives up your mind takes over and when your mind quits all you have left is your spirit so keep it real and keep it strong and whatever you do, don't ever quit!

I am me. There so much more to say than that but really doesn't that say it all.
