I repeated this exercise for about 3 weeks to test out my leg. The challenge in mod one is that 60 seconds is over really fast and so are the 90 seconds to recuperate from the 60. I don't have any issues with breathing at all. I had to see if I could repeat process without tearing anything important and readjust my body to be light on my feet, something I learned best during many years of training in martial arts.
I waited till the weather cooled off to go out. In fact, it was raining lightly and looked like it was going to storm any second, so I did this run on a straight away in the park going back and forth. Instead of focusing on distance, I concentrated on breathing and technique.
It felt great. There's something very freeing about doing this. The 90 seconds really are a challenge in the sense that I'm trying to increase my pace and keep it there. That's key for this race. Like I said, I do not expect to come in first or even somewhere in the middle. It's all about spending this year training, and re-learning myself and then crossing the finish line.
Module three will be an absolute challenge because that's two minutes of running and 90 seconds of walking. It inverts itself and increases greatly from there. In nine weeks, it should, I repeat "should", land me at running for 30 minutes. Let's see how far I can go in 30.
Tomorrow night is yoga and some light heavy bag training to rebuild my core muscles.
